The Great Stew Chase; Sledding

Today was the 40th running of the 15K Great Stew Chase. It’s a US Track and Field sanctioned event, so it’s uber competitive, with all of the local running clubs converging to assert regional running supremacy on the salt-laden roadsides of Lynn, MA. I went, I ran 9.3 miles (though my Garmin says 9.5!), I finished in 1 hour and 15 minutes, which was exactly the time I stated to Mr. P would be my objective. That’s about an 8:00 min/mile pace, which is quite a nice showing for me at this distance. I finished 23 out of 72 Females in the 1-39 age group.

After I returned home and ate some lunch, we went sledding in Arlington at Robbins Fram Park, which looks out over Boston. We started at the kiddie hill and moved on the bigger hill, which scared the bejesus out of me to watch Little Boy hurdling down the hill towards the hay-protected fence. We walked up and down the hill at least ten times. Cross-training? It was a mild, peaceful afternoon.
